This document describes proper techniques for applying high performance ADCs. It describes the problems designers encounter, how to recognize their symptoms and how to avoid them. Topics include grounding and ground planes, supply and reference bypassing, sampling clock generation, analog input signal conditioning, signal jitter and proper handling of the data outputs. A sample board layout is provided as well as performance curves showing the effects of correct and incorrect application.
